Master Plan includes clinics in colonies
New Delhi- The Delhi Master plan 2021 will now include clinics for children with disabilities and individuals with special educational needs, closer to their home.
At present the city does not have many such facilities in easy reach, perhaps the Master Plan can sufficiently cater to the needs. The clinics included in the Master Plan of 2021 will be operational from residential properties in Delhi.
The inclusion of the clinics in the Master Plan was done in a recent notification of the Ministry of Urban Development and was categorized under the “Clinic” unit.
These clinics are allowed on a minimum plot size of about 100 square meters with regular plotted areas on road and a width of 13.5 meters and colonies with C and D category. Areas like Vasant Kunj and Lajpat Nagar fall in to Category C and areas like Preet Vihar and Rajouri Garden fall under Category D.
A plan was approved by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to permit such clinics in residential areas in 2011. The necessary changes for the Master Plan was made by the ministry after inviting suggestions from the public.
These clinics will be set up by extending the definition of a ‘Clinic’ in the Master Plan based on the needs of children and individuals.
The authorities feel that the school going children with learning disabilities will require facilities close by. They might also require services like psychological testing, speech therapy, counselling and language therapy with special educators and professionals. Henceforth the modified Master Plan will help in catering all these services.
