Mayor declines the agenda on house property tax
Chandigarh- The issue of imposing property tax on the residential properties in Chandigarh has created a rift between the officials and public representatives due to the pressure from the UT administration and the government.
However, this issue has been dragged along as the mayor refused to form the agenda based on the issue regarding the detailed discussion in the house meeting.
Rumors have stated that the UT had precisely addressed the civic body to not only impose property tax on residential properties but to also revise the existing rates of property tax on the commercial properties.
This was stated in a meeting of the MC officials. However, the MC was addressed in a firm manner that if their behavior was still lenient, preparations should be made by the civic body to face few decisions by the UT regarding the financial aspects.
Senior officials have been trying their best to convince the Congress and the BJP councilors regarding the imposing of the property tax followed by a detailed note as agenda for the meeting to be held. The mayor nevertheless refused to incorporate the agenda.
