MCG to take over water supply from PHED
The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) took over the water supply service from public health engineering department (PHED). MCG will provide the water supply service from April 1 to all of old Gurgaon.
Recently, the PHED and MCG had a meeting regarding this to fine-tune and discuss the process of takeover.
The water supply service was supposed to be taken by MCG from PHED, soon after it was formed in 2008, but it was being postponed for long by MCG.
After the state government had set a deadline of April, MCG finally decided to head the responsibility. The Municipal Corporation is already supplying water to 37 villages. According to the officials of MCG, they will provide water only in old Gurgaon areas although HUDA will be excluded. For HUDA sectors, the urban development authority is providing water, so MCG will not be taking this responsibility.
In the meeting held between the authorities, they decided and discussed about the problems the Corporation might encounter during the takeover process.
As per the spokesperson of MCG, it is observed that there are some boosting stations that require new pumping machines and some borewells need to be dug. It was claimed by the MCG officials that before the takeover, they will try to resolve all these issues.
MCG hopes to solve the water problem of the residents this summer and also it is planning to provide water in unauthorized colonies.
