MHADAMaharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has sent a notice to thirty-three real estate builders for not giving 3,300 houses to the housing board as per the rules. Now they have two months to deliver those houses.
MHADA officials said that the builders failed in handling over 10 lakh square which translates to around 3,300 houses of 300 square feet each to the board after redeveloping old properties.
Mohan Thombre, chief officer, MHADA (Mumbai buildings repairs and reconstruction board), said the housing board was serious about getting the houses. Real estate developers have given a choice by the MHADA officials that if they are unable to give us flats in their buildings, they can make arrangements to give us flats of the same size in other buildings in the same area.
Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has already filed police complaints against these builders and now they are planning to fine these builders Rs 40 crores. Flats in Matunga, Dadar, Prabhadevi, Mumbai Central, Byculla, Mazgaon and Mahim, would be sold at affordable rates through the usual lottery system, said by Thombre.
