No Comments Sub Category:Civic Issues,Metro,Mumbai Posted On: Feb 27, 2013

Mumbai MetroThe first metro in Mumbai by the Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) will have charged overhead wires.

The corporation is planning to charge the wires from Versova metro station to Marol metro station of the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (VAG) metro corridor.

The wires will have voltage of 25000 Volts, AC which will be induced in March.

Two power substations are present at Versova and Marol which will provide with the charging of overhead wires. It involves lot of supply of electricity which will be taken from these substations.

Approximately, 99% of the work is over with the metro on this stretch and installation of transformers and the signalling system is underway.

After charging, the overhead wires will be live and people are strictly advised to not approach or work anywhere near these overhead wires.

It was claimed that a part of the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro route would be thrown open to the public in March 2013. However, the ground level officials alleged that the time given by the CM was too optimistic and dreamy.

The metro project in Mumbai is being officially supervised by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), a public agency and its implementation is handled by Mumbai Metro One Private Limited which is a private firm. The officials of the public agency claim that the work will be over by December 2013 but the private firm claims that mid 2013 is final date.

However, all the critical works like roofing of stations, electrical and telecommunication work are still pending. Furthermore, it is claimed that metro will be open to public by December 2013.

As per reports, the metro services for Versova and Airport road station were stopped and will start at one go up to Ghatkopar with the upcoming metro construction. With the upcoming metro in this route, the apartments in Mumbai will have a good price appreciation and demand as well.

Also, the implementing agency alleged that mid 2013 is a tentative deadline, if only all clearances are received on time.
