Mumbaikars work in tandem with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation
Residents in various parts of Mumbai have taken it to their own hands to work against the civic issues all over the city. Through various forums the residents work in hand with the municipality to keep the civic problems at bay. They inform the civic body in lieu of any irregularities afflicting their community like encroachment, unkempt wards, illegal hawkers and uncovered manholes.
For example forum in Old Market Road had overseen the work of pavement blocks laying by the authorities. It is also observed that the prolonged association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has seemed to have worked for the residents as they are able to see their matters are taken into consideration in a drastic pace. The BMC officials are happy to co-operate with the citizens and are even willing to listen to their suggestions.
