The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has collected  property tax of around Rs 45 crore – or, 58% – of the Rs 77.54-crore with five months left to the financial year.

In a move to widen its tax collection, the MCC has targeted around 30,000 properties which were outside the purview all this while.

This revenue stream for corporation contributes at least 16% of the Rs 423.15-crore budget. MCC is to launche a month-long revenue-collection drive across 65 wards and expects to rake in Rs 15 crore in that period.

39 special counters will be set up across nine zones, claimed M R Ravi, commissioner of the corporation. In GIS survey it was revealed that 30,000 properties have to pay tax.
