Native properties of NRIs targeted by relatives and developers
New Delhi- The greedy relatives and devious developers are grabbing the properties of NRIs in India. The NRIs are caught in the miserable scenario with this unlawful land grabbing by their own relatives and developers.
This situation has eventually led to the Indian expatriates fighting for their properties.
It is shocking to know that most of the Indian expatriates cannot even fight against or put on combat gears as the land grabbers are their own family members.
As per lawyers, there has been an increased misuse of power of attorney across India and apparently NRIs are the top victims. Another lawyer also stated that he has seen a lot of NRIs going through trouble when their properties were grabbed. Report states that land issues like land grabbing, property confiscation and others issues have been for long practiced in India and in fact a US-based Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has requested for a fast tract disposal of their property issues.
NRIs from cities like Kolkata, New Delhi, Punjab and Kerala have been witnessing land grabbing issues since years and are struggling to get back their properties in India. Land grabbing issues have become a topic of concern and was addressed in a recent seminar held by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.
It is seen that most of the expatriates fall prey to the land issues as they have time constraints and lack of legal support while fighting their cases. They are at a greater risk when they sell or buy a property in India as they are far away from their home town and cannot be present each time for all the formalities.
