NCR projects stalled by UP Govt
The Uttar Pradesh Government has stalled two major multi-crore projects of Delhi. The Public Works Department’s (PWD) project on the bypass road in Kalindi Kunj area and Transco in Noida are the two projects which have been temporarily stopped by the Government.
According to senior Delhi Government officials, CM Sheila Dikshit had personally spoken to Akhilesh Yadav about this matter last year itself.
Just because the UP Government was not reacting, the plan of installing three mega electricity towers has been stuck. CM tried to contact many of the political parties and leaders to resolve the issue, but no action was taken. Even though the UP government promised that it will allow the city government to install the mega electricity towers and demanded around 130 crore. However, though six months have passed, they are not providing the land for the project, claimed the Delhi Government officials.
The officials added that installation of mega electricity towers would benefit the residents of whole east Delhi area and the Transco (government’s power supply company) would take care of the electricity supply.
The project in Kalindi Kunj bypass in south Delhi is expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Faridabad but this project is also stalled, as some part of the project is planned on an irrigation land in the UP Government’s territory.
According to the officials, this project had been reviewed to Public Private Partnership (PPP) model in September last year. This project was initiated in the year of 2002 and has been delayed because of the various problems of land acquisition in UP.
