NDMC checking on sublet of flats by Govt employees

No Comments Sub Category:Municipality Posted On: Mar 12, 2014

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to float a scheme to check on government employees who sublet their allotted homes. Under this, the civic body has asked complainants to inform about any such flat and gain allotment of the same. The subletter will have to evict the house and also face hefty penalty.  Under the terms and conditions on which the flats are allotted any kind of subletting (renting) of government accommodation by its allottees is prohibited.

An official informed that the informers will be allotted the flats if they complain in writing about the sublet flat. The complainant has to be eligible for the allotment. The civic body has come up with this scheme as a lot of employees are found to be subletting their flat to earn extra money. In some cases, the services of such an employee can be terminated. The occupant will be charged market rent during the period between final notice of eviction and actual eviction.
