Chennai- Broken boundary wall near the Rangarajapuram flyover has become a death trap for residents. A resident was trying to cross the railway track when he was hit by the moving train leading to his death on the spot.

The death of S.Rajagopalan was the fourth within a month and many people have got injured, alleged C. Seshadri, president of Subramania Nagar Civic Welfare Association and one of the neighbours of the victim of the accident.

The Railways and the Chennai Corporation have to take some quick measures to prevent future accidents.

The wall near the railway track was knocked down at the time of the flyover construction by the authorities. The proposed pedestrian subway to cross the track is being delayed by the railways and the corporation which is leading to such mishaps, alleged Sheshadri.

The residents have been requesting the authorities to reconstruct the wall in order to prevent people from entering the tracks which would prevent accidents on the tracks and roads near the flyover. Many vehicles speeding on the flyover have hit residents and animals stepping on the road after having crossed the track, alleged a resident.
