New crushing units to treat hard garbage in Pune

In an effort to tackle hard garbage treating, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)  has said that it will set up special crushing units to treat the hard garbage in Pune. Treating hard garbage like tree branches and coconut shells had always been a problem for the civic authorities. These kinds of garbage also causes technical problems to the processing units. Therefore in a bid to do away with these glitches the municipal corporation will set up small units in different parts of the city.

Some 25 tonne to 30 tonne hard garbage is generated daily in the Pune zone. The new garbage processing plant can crush nearly three tonnes of hard garbage. Each processing plant will cost around three lakh. Pramod Yadav, special officer in-charge of waste disposal and processing at PMC have said that the new plants will be installed in four places in the city. He also said that these crushed material will be used for producing fertilizers which will be further PMC maintained gardens and parks.
