car parking space in ChennaiChennai- We have heard of several things which have been made online for the comfort users e.g. property search, tax payment etc. Now, its turn for car parking which is becoming a hot new commodity online.

Portals are now linking up with people having cars with no spaces and people with empty space. Both parties can be benefited through these portals.

From last six months, the Chennai city is witnessing high demand of parking spaces. Experts say that the city has no comprehensive parking policy.

A covered car parking in Chennai is available for Rs 4000 per month while it is Rs 12,000 per month in few parts of Mumbai. In some areas of New Delhi, the cost goes till Rs 75,000 a month.

One of the famous car parking portals named “uPark” has facilitated 6,636 parking slots for many car users in Chennai. Other websites like Quikr, Locanto and Olx are also provide parking spaces in the city.

Owing to growing number of vehicles, the demand of car parking space is also increasing. Since there is limited road and land space, the parking space automatically becomes a premium commodity.

It is found that many landowners are using side drive to earn few thousands of rupees by renting it to people. Several people in areas like Poonamallee High Road, Adambakkam and Alwarpet are paying some amount to land owners to park their cars.

Some real estate developers feel that this move can result in negative trend. Many property developers in Mumbai are selling parking spaces at higher prices to those who are not owners. This is negatively impacting the residents of apartment complexes.

Few other landowners are preferring to keep their plots vacant than to build apartments. This space can be used for car parking space. Car parking charge is decided on the basis of size of car. For instance, a landowner in Teynampet charge Rs 3,000 for a small car and Rs 3,900 for an SUV for a month.

There are many such parking spots in the city which are listed in various online car parking portals.
