The registration of a flat requires preparation of documents by the stamp duty department, authentication by taking a photograph and thumb imprint at the registration office and then payment.

The stamp duty for flat registration is 5 percent of the cost of the flat and Rs 30,000 is charged as registration fees. While the scheme is not mandatory, but the fact that flats can be registered with the government on the same day as the purchase may be beneficial to buyers. Pardeshi stated that they have enabled builders to register the flats online from their offices. This will help buyers as they won’t have to take the day off.
