Orders from the Court to give back land to UAS
On Thursday, the Karnataka High Court came to the conclusion that the BBMP should give back the lands to UAS. The Chief Secretary carried out the task of asking the BBMP to stop constructions on the road between Yeshwantpur and Yelahanka which goes through the University of Agricultural Sciences. After hearing the petition which was filed by the BBMP, the Vacation Judge Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar issued the order.
According to the BBMP, 70% of the work has already been done and the villagers have been using the road which goes to the National Highway 7. The UAS has been directed by the civic agency on the other hand to give back the remaining 12 acres of land in order to finish the completion of road.
On December 2014, a recommendation was made saying that the link road project should be completely stopped since no mechanisms have been established in order to reduce any kind of environmental damage. Based on this particular recommendation, an order was passed by the chief secretary which would bring an end to road construction on the spot.
