TNEB Domestic Consumers can pay Electricity Bills through Post Offices
Domestic Consumers of Tamil Nadu electricity board (TNEB) can pay their electricity bills through select post offices. It will come into effect starting April 6 in the computerized post offices. For this service, the consumer will pay Rs 5 per bill as service charge to department of posts.
Low Tension consumers of TNEB can pay their Electricity Bills through select Post Offices. This facility was introduced on 1st March 2010, at Anna Road Head Post Office and Anna Nagar Post Office. Since 1st May 2010, this facility was available at 50 post offices across Chennai Metro. Now, domestic users of TNEB in the state can pay their electricity bills at all the computerized post offices across the Tamilnadu Postal Circle.
Under this facility, consumers of TNEB residing in any part of the state can approach any one of the identified post offices, produce their electricity board card at the post office counter, pay the bill amount and get the receipt. The bill collection process is done by Online E-payment facility provided by the Department of Posts in coordination with Tamilnadu Electricity Board. For the service, the consumer will have to pay Rs 5 per bill as service charge to department of posts.
The scheme is available in 192 post offices covering Chennai city and all corporation cities in Tamil Nadu.
