PCMC to put limits on land marked in development plan
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation(PCMC) is set to put boundaries on all the lands as marked in the development plan (DP).
The civic body is not able to acquire many of them, so it has not developed many of these plots.
As per the engineering department of PCMC, the land demarcations will be done whichever are present in the DP. The lands which have been acquired will have a notice board posted warning people that no one should enter into any agreement for purchase of these plots.
Also, the plots which are located along the river banks will be demarcated with the high and low floodlines.
Many bids have been invited by the civic body for selecting an agency for demarcation of plots. The estimated cost of the work is around Rs 2.5 crore.
The civic body had first approved the development plan in 1995. After 17 years, the civic body has been able to develop very few reserved plots due to which it has been criticised by the activists and corporators.
As per RTI information received, there are 26,711 unauthorised constructions on 269 plots reserved in the development plan of 1995.
The civic body has failed to acquire many other unauthorised constructions on these plots marked in the DP for the newly-merged villages. These plots must be acquired to provide amenities like hospitals, gardens, fire brigade offices and vegetable markets.
PCMC is able to demarcate the plots along the river banks with the help of irrigation department.
As per Nagari Hakka Suraksha Samiti, PCMC has been claiming since 2007 that it has made a provision of Rs 100 crore annually in the budget to acquire land reserved in the DP for basic amenities. However, they have not utilised the complete amount for the purpose.
People are deprived of basic services and facilities. The PCMC must concentrate on acquiring all the plots reserved in the DP and developing them to provide basic amenities to the people.
