Pune Development Plan amidst talks again

No Comments Sub Category:Civic Issues,Municipality,Pune,Realty News Posted On: Mar 07, 2013

DiscussionPune Development Plan (DP) has again gone into troubles after some of the corporators raised issues during a recent general body (GB) meeting of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The ruling party and others managed to get their resolutions passed in this meeting but some were not happy with the resolutions and hinted that they would be moving to the High Court against the illegal nature of the resolutions.

The DP was passed on January 8 and a number of supplementary resolutions were received by the GB.  After checking, the civic body found that many are self contradictory and a notice was sent immediately by NCP corporators asking the GB’s guidance on the matter before the DP is made public for suggestion and objections.

The corporator who had opposed the resolutions had said that the DP, if has been passed by the GB, can not be brought before the same body, as per the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966 (MR&TP).

Earlier, it was announced that the revised development plan which was suggested for old city by the elected members of PMC had to wait another month to see the light of the day.

The civic body had claimed that it will take at least a month to publish and display the plan. Earlier, PMC had approved the development plan (DP) for old city areas which was in draft mode for long.

The final draft including 23 supplementary was placed before the general body and all the opposition parties opposed the DP.

The revised DP was approved on January 8 of this year with 79 corporators voted in favour and 59 corporators voted against the approval of the DP. The mayor then took a month to sign the development plan.

Ideally, the plan is to publish the DP for the general public in newspapers and also display it at concerned offices for the people to view after the general body’s approval.

It again takes suggestions and objection on the development plan from the public. After the suggestions and objections, the general body will again review it and send it for final approval to the State government.
