PMC sanctions Rs 50 crore for sewage treatment project
Sewage treatment has been a major issues in Pune.
To take up sewage treatment project in the city, PMC General Body (GB) has sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the same.
The plan has been set way back in 2010 to install eight sewage treatment plants worth Rs 271.60 crore to keep a check on the pollution level in the Mutha river.
This allocation of budget of Rs 50 crore has been made for the next two years.
The project got planned after the then Union environment minister visited the city and found the decay in Mutha.
Funds will also sought from the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) apart from the usual 70% provided by the Central government.
