Namma metroSources say that the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has written to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) to issue preliminary notification for the acquisition of land necessary for the construction of the corridors.

KIADB is not able to do anything as no fresh tenders can be floated with the code of conduct in place.

According to sources, they have already written to the Election Commissioner in this regard and are waiting for the response.

Namma Metro Phase II includes four extension lines and two new lines will be implemented with a total length of 72 km at an estimated cost of Rs 26, 405 crore. The BMRCL has identified a total of 941 both private and public properties along the alignment of the project corridors under Phase II.

Along the 15.5 km line they have identified around 151 properties from Baiyyappanahalli to Whitefield. There are around 57 properties for the 6.45 km line between Mysore road terminals to Kengeri.

For the 3.77-km line between Hesaraghatta Cross and BIEC along Tumkur Road, the numbers of properties are 32. For the 6.29-km line between Puttenahalli Cross and Anjanapura, it is 71.

Around 212 properties have been identified along the 18.82 km line from RV Road to Bommasandra and for the 21.25 kms Gottigere- IIMB-Nagavaraline it is 418.

Once the Namma Metro is done, they will provide connectivity from Majestic to Whitefield in the East, Kengeri in the West, BIEC along Tumkur Road in the North and Anjanapura Township in the South. Also two new lanes are expected from Jayanagar to Electronic City and Nagavara to Gottigere under Phase II.
