No Comments Sub Category:Civic Issues,Other cities Posted On: Nov 16, 2012
During night time Himachal Pradesh is touching the below zero mark on the celsius scale which in turn is affecting power generation with far less water making it through the turbines due to freezing.
In the days to come if the temperature drops further then power shortage is likely to envelop whole northern India.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a minimum of -0.4 degrees. Manali recorded a low of 1.2 degrees celsius and Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti remained the coldest with minimum temperature of -2.5 degrees celsius. During winter season the rivers witness a 75 percent drop in water flow.
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) have to depend on neighbouring states because of less power generation.
