Protest continues in Jayanagar against segregation unit
Bangalore- The construction of an organic waste convertor unit at Jayanagar III Block near a swimming pool is still being opposed by the residents.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has started construction of a segregation point within the swimming pool compound, which has annoyed the residents.
The agency maintaining the pool are spreading rumours in order to stop the construction, alleged N Nagaraju, local councillor and the Ruling Party Leader in the BBMP council.
Concerned about the health hazards associated with the organic waste converter unit, the residents of Jayanagar staged a protest raising slogans and demanding to stop the work. They demanded that BBMP would rather plant siblings in the area than to set up a segregation unit.
Residents alleged that before putting up such structures in public areas, BBMP should secure a no objection certificate (NOC) from the public.
There is a school, a park, a playground, a swimming pool and residences close to the location where waste segregation plant has been set up. So the residents demanded to move the unit to an isolated location.
