Residents complain about misuse of Railways land in Coimbatore
The complaints of the residents of localities in Ward 44 of the Coimbatore Corporation seem to be growing louder.
The Southern Railway has 53 acres on the western side of the road that connects Sanganoor Road with Nallampalayam Road.
The land stocks garbage, waste from poultries and meat shops, and construction debris. Added to that, the thorny shrubs on sides of the road it serves as an ideal haven for social misfits.
The residents have to suffer from the stinking debris, meat wastes dumped after weekend sales on Sundays, and also from petty thieves and drunkards roaming on the road. If that was not all, small and medium industries have encroached upon the road, too.
The residents have suggested the corporation that their problems will come to an end if the railways were to construct a compound wall.
