Residents demand withdrawal of hiked power tariffs

No Comments Sub Category:Civic Issues,Delhi-NCR Posted On: Oct 23, 2012

Political parties and other groups have demanded a revision in power tariffs from Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) pointing that it was only a partial relief to the consumers and the hike in power tariff should be withdrawn.

The abolition of the 201-400 units slab and introduction of 0-400 units slab had resulted in significant increase in electricity bills of the majority of consumers whose consumption was below 400 units but above 200 units.

The DERC’s abolition of 201 to 400 units slab and introduction of 0-400 units slab has resulted an increase in electricity bills of those whose consumption was below 400 units but above 200 units.

By reinstating 201-400 units slab, the DERC slightly revised the tariff structure for those consuming above 400 units by 10 paise to Rs 6.50 per unit.
