Residents, green activists stop tree felling
Three trees were felled without the permission from the concerned officials in a residential area in Singanallur city, despite the promises made to protect the green cover.
It is said that in order to widen the roads, the trees were felled. The contractor was planning to cut more trees, but due to strong resistance from residents and green activists, the plan was aborted.
Though cutting and removing of the trees was not necessary for widening the road, the contractor planned to fell all the trees without the corporation’s permission, alleged the activists.
