Residents of Chandigarh to have two new commercial centers
Chandigarh- The residents of Chandigarh will soon enjoy optimum facilities of two more commercial centres of the likes of Sector 17 in sectors 34 and 43.
The proposed sub-city centres are not big as sector 17 of Chandigarh. The plot allotment for the two sub-city centres will initiate in 2013. It is assumed that if this plan go accordingly then residents who live far from sector 17 can save their time and energy by alternatives offered by the centers.
Sub city center in Sector 34 will embrace 735 shops while Sector 43 will comprise more institutional plots than commercial. The commercial properties in Chandigarh‘s sector 34 will be spread over 22,0642 square meters. Properties which are hindering the functioning of the city will be weeded out. The UT urban planning department has finalised all the details.
The concept plan denotes the exact location of the two city centers. Sub city center in Sector 43 will be positioned behind the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT). To strengthen the sector, the concept plan also identifies shopping area, vending zones, food courts and amphitheaters.
The high population of newly developed sectors 47 to 61 will also be served by the proposed sub city center in Sector 43. The chief commissioner of Chandigarh T N Chaturvedi laid the foundation of Sector 34 on May 12, 1978.
The Sector 34 structure has a figure of a “bird of peace” and impression of a wheat ear traced by Le Corbusier who designed the image of “Sun and Space”. A uniform four-storey height has been fixed for all commercial buildings. Also a basic reinforced concrete frame is specified.
