Coimbatore- The Government Servants’ Residents’ Welfare Association has requested the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) and the Coimbatore Corporation to get a septic tank cleaned and the pipe that connects it to the Corporation’s sewage network.

Though the residents have been seeking help from past few months, none of the civic bodies have responded till now. The situation of residents staying close to the tank is pathetic as foul odour emanating from the tank which is unbearable.

The atmosphere is very unhygienic to live, said P. Karunakaran, president of the association.

Adding to the problem of damaged septic tank is the choked pipe which connects the tank to the Corporation’s sewage network, he said. When the residents initiated the matter to the district administration authorities, they had asked the officials of the TNHB to look into the matter.

The corporation has replied that they could not take up the work until the TNHB hands over the tank to them, alleged S. Gopalakrishnan, Secretary of the Association.

The residents of the area, which comes under ward 41 of Coimbatore Corporation, also alleged that the Corporation should clear the garbage regularly as there was garbage piled up in front of few vacant flats. TNHB sources whispered that they will be soon resolving the issue.
