Reward for Apartment Communities for Segregating Waste

The Chennai Corporation has a new plan to collect non-biodegradable waste and excess manure from the apartment community. Civic body has distributed colored bins to the residents to segregate waste. The kitchen and garden waste is planned to be recycled judiciously with the implementation of this plan in the Chennai city. The apartment has set up a composting shed to collect biodegradable kitchen and garden waste. The residents who do segregate wastes are often rewarded. The Asiana Flat Owners Association in Venus Colony at Alwarpet has already been benefited from the source segregation. With the prevailing waste management, six women have been appointed to segregate waste collected from the flats and they work two hours to separate plastics and non-biodegradable from household waste is seen as the most troublesome.
