1 Comment Sub Category:Community,Municipality Posted On: Nov 07, 2011
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers are fed up with waste segregation in Mumbai city. A biodegradable bag project has been planned to be launched by the Khar Residents’ Association (KRA) at the earliest. The biodegradable bags are agreed to be supplied Advanced Locality Management (ALM) also in concern with the civic body and this supply will be taken for a demo for around 10 days of time and only if things workout well, the RWA has planned to make this a mandatory. The committee ensures the supply of bags to all the apartments in Khar, Mumbai.

The kitchen wastes from all these apartment residences will be dumped in the pit in the same area and the compost generated is said to be distributed to the residents for external uses. This project will be headed by the city civic officials and also Advanced Locality Management. KRA managing trustee Anandini Thakoor reported saying that the BMC has never achieved zero garbage only because of non-segregation of wastes from the city roads. However this program is promised to improve the pathetic prevailing segregation system in Mumbai city.
