SGS mall in Pune reopens following court order
The SGS mall in Pune Camp, which was sealed on Tuesday on charge of non-payment of property tax, was opened on Thursday evening, following an order from the district and sessions court here.
Principal district and sessions judge Anant Badar ordered the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) to remove the seals on hearing an appeal filed by the mall, challenging the tax imposed by the PCB. However, the court directed the mall to deposit thrice the amount of property tax from 2010 to 2013.
Previously the Bombay High Court had dismissed the writ petition filed by the mall against the PCB due to lack of jurisdiction, saying that the remedy to file the appeal vested with the district court.
