Six weeks time given to GHMC
Hyderabad- A time frame of six weeks was given to the GHMC to curb the mosquito menace and maintain cleanliness in the city by the AP High Court.
A plea addressed by Advocate Wasim Ahmad Khan concerning seldom action taken by the authorities to clear the filth and the mosquito menace was dealt by a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar.
However, steps to curb the mosquito menace was explained by GHMC counsel. It was also stated that the GHMC also admitted about having 45 portable fogging machines and 247 knapsack sprayers which were not functioning.
A report was also submitted regarding this. Photographs of overflowing sewage drains and open nalas were submitted to the authorities which in turn led to a situation wherein the GHMC imposed strict actions against controlling the mosquito menace.
