Skyscrapers Around Hussainsagar Will Adhere to Green Norms: KCR
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Saturday, announced the state government’s plan to construct skyscrapers around Hussainsagar. Over an area of 100 acres surrounding the lake, 40 locations are being pinned down where multi-storeyed buildings are being planned.
Sanjeevaiah Park would shelter the world’s tallest building, pushing past Dubai’s Burj Khalifa that stands at 828 meters. Other locations where high-rises will be constructed are Buddha Bhavan, Lower Tank Bund, Ranigunj bus depot, Kundanbagh, Patigadda, Youth Hostel, Sailing Club Nursing College, Raghava Sadan, Greenlands, Dilkusha guest house, Electricity Bhavan, New MLA Quarters at Adarshnagar, Ritz Hotel, Text Book Printing Press, Expotel Hotel, Snow World area in Lower Tank Bund and BRK Bhavan. Minimum height of the skyscrapers will be 75 floors.
On Saturday, KCR held a review meeting with the authorities on the project and cleaning the lake. The buildings will be constructed complying with the green norms, adhering to the Supreme Court judgement and other environmental guidelines, outlining that the project will rise beyond the Full Tank Level of the lake.
The officials have been asked by the CM to draw up plans and infrastructure facilities for the locations pinned for the buildings. Since international agencies are speculated to come forward to take up the mantle, the officials have been asked to lay down guidelines for the building of high-rises around the lake.
The CM has also directed the officials to lay out tenders for drawing out the storm water drains, which are connected to the lake. KCR stated that the cleaning of the lake will be a top priority for the state government. He explained that the inflows from different nalas are polluting Hussainsagar, so to avert that, the officials have been asked to put in an underground drainage system to block the sewage influx. The meeting also decided to develop Vinayaka Sagar in Indira Park where immersion of Durga and Ganesha idols can take place, thus averting the pollution to Hussainsagar.
The chief minister stated that the government’s mission is to construct towers on par with international standards, while at the same time ensuring the lake retains its past glory and the environment doesn’t get polluted.
