Slum-dwellers to get Development Rights Certificate
Instead of developers, the slum-dwellers will get the Development Rights Certificate (DRC) if the government approve the new scheme sent by the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA).
Under this scheme, it won’t be mandatory for the slums in India to choose a house in the SRA scheme. They will have the freedom to buy a flat anywhere and everywhere in the city or the state. The scheme will also decrease the bottlenecks.
Under the regular scheme, the slum-dwellers get the houses and the developers get the DRC. But in the scheme proposed by Sanjivani Yojana, slum-dwellers will get the DRC which can be converted into cash. Congress corporator Aba Bagul, said that the slum-dwellers can sell the DRC and start a business of their own with the money or buy a property.
