South Corporation losses Rs 64 lakh in compounding fee
New Delhi- An issue raised in the standing committee stating that obtaining a complete certification is quite a tedious task and with the former issue of the certificates from October 2008 to December 2010, the corporation missed on charging the compounding fee based on the 2007 circle rates and instead the former charges from 1998-20 were practiced.
This in turn led to a grave revenue loss of about Rs 64 lakh.
Basically, compounding fee is paid by the owner for the unauthorized property constructions. The fee is paid based on the prevailing circle rates to regularize the unauthorized areas.
Even if a person acquires a completion certificate, there were innumerable objections by the corporation officials and some of them were even charged with default rates. It was stated by Farhad Suri, Opposition leader, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, that even if the owners are levied with less fee the officials should be answerable.
However, the commissioner when questioned was quite ignorant about it.
