South Delhi gets better parking spaces
In a new tender passed by the municipal corporation, it is said that South Delhi will have better parking places. There will be 39 parking sites under the jurisdiction of the corporation.
This new parking sites will follow the new parking policy and the corporation is expecting to earn an additional annual revenue of around Rs. 13.68 crore from the two newly constructed underground parking lots in Munirka and Hauz Khas, Delhi.
According to the new policy, the parking contractors will have different types of norms, violations of which will result in hefty fines and even cancellation of their license.
As per the South civic body official, there will be similar uniforms for parking attendants, a proper complaint register and issuance of parking slip have been stressed upon in the policy.
If any guidelines are not followed such as overcharging, non-issue of handheld device for issuing parking slips, no notice boards and other violations will be severely penalised.
According to the sources, few areas like New Friends Colony ranked the highest in regards to help the civic body to collect a monthly licence fee of Rs. 11.57 lakh, similarly Vasant Vihar PVR site fetched around Rs. 11.40 lakh.
The records of the civic body say that earlier they had received a revenue of only Rs. 52 lakh per month from these sites which has now touched Rs. 1.14 crore, which is a sudden jump of over 120%.
Now the South corporation has declared its revenue target and had collected over Rs. 48 crore against a target of Rs. 44 crore. It was the only corporation to achieve its target in remunerative project cell last year.
