Tamil Nadu Chief Minister approves a slew of projects
Chennai- Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has announced several new projects that will be taken up in the state. A budget of Rs 323 crore has been set aside for constructing subways and over bridges in eight districts and many other infrastructural developmental works to be carried on.
Over bridges and underpasses will be constructed at Tiruchy, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Karur, Vellore and Cuddalore. As per official announcement, Rs 70.3 crore has been allocated for the purpose.
An additional two-way over bridge in Coimbatore costing Rs 20 crore and another two-way over-bridge linking Tiruchy and Thuraiyur costing Rs 14.40 crore are also in the queue.
A cost of Rs 13.21 crore has been earmarked for construction of a three-storied integrated complex on 7,256 square metre of land at Guindy in Chennai. The complex has been planned to house offices of the National Highway department.
In order to reduce congestion in temple town of Tiruttani, a bypass road will be constructed. Another bypass road near Mannargudi has also been approved. Funds of Rs 11.61 crore and Rs 10.6 crore have been allocated for Tiruttani and Mannargudi bypass road projects respectively.
The CM has also earmarked Rs 11.60 crore for the Madurai-Tuticorin Road widening. Redevelopment of Tuticorin-Kollam Road has also been planned for and Rs 3.80 crore financial aid has been allocated to it.
