Toll hike in DND flyway results in a PIL by Noida residents
Noida- With the recent hike in the DND flyway toll rates, from Rs.22 to Rs.25 from November 9, the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association (FONRWA) has been opposing the hike and has come to a decision to file a PIL against the unjustified MoU signed with the Noida Toll Bridge Co Ltd.
A protest by FONRWA stated that if the hike was not rolled back, the flyway will be blocked on November 20. Also, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has been sought for an intervention in the matter by the association. FONRWA President, NP Singh stated that the District Magistrate (DM) has requested the company to roll back the toll fee.
A decision to file the PIL was made as the authority officials seldom showed any efforts to roll back the hike as per the MoU terms. The toll rules framed by the Uttar Pradesh Government states that 10% annual hike is allowed for expressways constructed under PPP models. As per the MoU, the company can hike the toll rate if approved by majority of board members even if Noida Authority has any objection.
