Unauthorised colonies layout work stalled
New Delhi- With the approval of the regularisation of the unauthorised colonies by the Delhi government, it was declared by the three municipal agencies that the work on the layout is yet to begin.
According to the officials, the Delhi Government is yet to fix the cut-off date by further planning the layouts. However, in 2007, there were a list of unauthorized colonies which were regularized based on the aerial survey done.
Later it was stated by the officials that the layouts cannot be based on the survey as maximum amount of vacant land at the time of the survey has now been encroached upon.
Various constructions have taken place in these colonies in the last five years and it is important that the officials should ensure that there is enough space for a community centre, civic and school facilities. The three institutions; Indraprastha University, School of Planning and Architecture and Jamia Millia Islamia who were appointed to take up the project have refused to start the project until the cut-off date is decided.
The government has seldom taken any steps to proceed the work despite many reminders.
