Urban development dept seeks land status report of 532 colonies

1 Comment Sub Category:Delhi-NCR,Realty News Posted On: Feb 25, 2013

LandDelhi- The regularisation of 532 colonies, proposed by the Urban Development department for regularisation in September, 2012, is likely to move a step further with Delhi Government’s Urban Development department asking for the land status report.

The urban development department had earlier dealt with cases of such illegal colonies, wherein colonies were built on private land and claimants have shown it. Thus it has focused on the re-verification process of the 532 illegal colonies.

These colonies, located on Government land from the Revenue department, are to be re-verified by the deputy commissioners regarding the land status in order to find out if there are any discrepancies with ownership of the land.

Maps prepared by Surveyor Of India and Geo-Spatial Department Limited using the input of “khasra nos” from revenue officers have been sent for land status report to revenue department for khasra numbers falling within colony boundary. The circular requests to recheck and ensure that the land status report is given about all khasra nos included within the colony boundary, indicating relevant facts to help determine in terms of orders issued with approval of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the land status as to whether it is government or private land.

Rechecking the land status of 532 colonies will help the government to ensure whether the colonies are developed on government land or private land. This move is also expected to help in opening of sale and purchase in these colonies.

It is necessary to ascertain whether the land is government or private land and to know whether or not the landowners have received the compensation for land regularisation. In case if compensation has not been received by the landowner, then please indicate whether physical possession is still with the landowner. To ascertain whether it is in the possession or not the possession has been taken by the government. In both the cases, indicate the area involved in each category, reads the circular.

Closeby sources revealed that the revenue department officials are unable to grasp the definition of government and private land by urban development department on December 12, 2007. All land acquired in the gaon sabha under section 81 of the Delhi Land Reforms Act 1954 where the physical possession is with the original landowners and where all land in respect of which the awards have been given but the landowners have not taken the compensation and are retaining the physical possession, the urban development department order said.

The revenue records of several colonies have been checked where no records of land are available with the department and officials are finding it difficult to find out the actual status of land in their areas.
