Villagers protests against ‘safe zone’
A huge protest has been staged outside the Deputy Commissioners ‘ office by the residents of Emmeti village in Kalghatgi taluk opposing the creation of ‘safe zone’ would be for stone crushing units near the village.
The villagers stated that the creation of the safe zone hazardous to the health of the people and adversely affect the ecosystem of the region.
The residents said that the crusher units would pollute the air and water, and adversely affect the irrigated agriculture land in the vicinity if installed.
A memorandum has been submitted to the government for the withdrawal of the proposal for safe zone by residents.
