Water issues seems not to end in Chennai
The water supply at several localities in Chennai is going to hit worse this summer!
According to Chennai metropolitan water supply and sewerage board (CMWSSB) the 42 local bodies who merged with Chennai corporation need atleast 6 months to clarify technical defects to ensure smooth and regular water supply in the city.
The residents staying in apartments at Chennai are fed up coping and adjusting with minimal water supply in the city.
The north Chennai areas like Washermanpet, Kasimedu and Tondiarpet get around 50 and 65 lpcd (litres per capita per day) in place of 135 lpcd prescribed.
The Alwar Thirunagar, MMDA colony, Nungambakkam, Besant Nagar, Adyar and Choolaimedu get water supply of 160 and 205 lpcd.
Adding to these woes, the drinking water pipe damage by private contractors has been noticed in the recent times.
