Yamuna Expressway landThe Yamuna Expressway authority has finally agreed to increase the share of the developed plots to the farmers for the total land acquired from them for the development and construction purposes.

The demand of the farmers was to get 10 percent of the developed plots of their land acquired instead of 5 percent the authority offered for them. However, the officials at least decided to give them 7 percent of the developed plots.

This decision was approved by the authority board recently in a meeting and the process of identifying the suitable land for this particular purpose has already begun.

The developed plots need to be divided among 4500 farmers from whom a total of 1600 hectares of land was acquired for the construction of the Yamuna Expressway and its developmental work in the surrounding areas.

This agitation by farmers regarding the land was going on for several months now that they demanded compensation and rehabilitation benefits in lieu of their land at par with Noida and Greater Noida farmers.

Bharatiya Kisan Union surrounded the YEIDA officials and also locked out the officials demanding parity. Now the authority has decided to launch a scheme for 2000 industrial plots that will be developed as industrial clusters in that area. The dimensions of the plots are between 400 square metre and 1,000 square metre and the allotment will be made through a draw of lots.

A scheme was launched in 2009 by the Yamuna Authority for 21000 large industrial plots in sector 18 and 21. Now the Authority is planning a new scheme for smaller plots which will be allotted to the farmers. An official said the they will launch industrial projects as the area have seen a lot of residential and commercial development and now the board has already approved the plan as per the demand of the farmers.
