20 percent land made mandatory for affordable housing
As an initiative to increase affordable housing in the city, Maharashtra Government has made 20% of land mandatory for the same.
The step has been taken keeping in mind to provide housing for economically backward classes and low income group people.
Reservation of land would be done only on a 2,000 square meter of land.
The Government has also suggested amendments in Section 37(1)(1) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act.
As per the plan, smaller houses will be handed over to Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (Mhada) at the price of construction and the builder will be paid according to same FSI.
The houses will be latter distributed amongst the weaker section through lottery.
