500 Bus Shelters in Delhi vandalized

No Comments Sub Category:Awareness,Community Posted On: Nov 09, 2011

Delhi government had recently paved way for nearly 500 bus shelters on the occasion of Commonwealth Games, but now these have become a bothersome for the government. The reason behind this bothersome is that maximum of the shelters have been placed in the outskirts of the city and hardly the city buses go on rounds in those areas. The shelters have now been left alone as not much of the cities population hail or commute from such destinations. To clear all these issues the state government has planned to initiate this work to the private constructors, they will be expected to shift the shelters only where people commute in maximum within the city areas.

The government has henceforth formed a committee headed by chief secretary P K Tripathi and this committee is said to be aiming for a profit-making-model out of this project. However the government claims that despite of them announcing tenders related to this project, it has been traced that not even a single private entity has come forward to take initiative of the project. Maximum of the shelters have been defaced since its not been used from months together. Midst crores of rupees shelled on these projects are now being demolished, this shows how tactfully government is using the money in sarcasm.
