House tax bills by MCG opposed by plot owners
Gurgaon- Earlier the imposition of the house tax by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) was opposed by the property owners in private localities and townships but now the residents of plotted houses in HUDA sectors are following the same.
Residents from HUDA sectors have trained their people on the MCG for dispatching the house tax notices and bills in order to collect the amount on time. This fact, however was denied by an MCG commissioner.
Around five years ago, 70 percent of the house owners from HUDA sectors who are self occupied state that the state government had promised them about no house tax being imposed on the self occupied properties.
This was promised by the government before the inception of the MCG in 2008 which was replaced by the new house tax calculation by the Haryana government.
A house owner stated that the bills which were received from the MCG were on contrary to the Haryana government’s promise exempting the from house tax.
The owner also stated that the CM had promised them about no house tax being imposed on self-occupied properties in Gurgaon, perhaps the MCG began to send them the bills in 2010. Despite the resident’s repeated requests, they continue to send them the bills.
Last week, a member of the Federation of Residents’ Welfare Associations of Urban Estate had along with many other residents filed a written protest with Dahiya.
