The New Delhi state government is all set to follow a new drive to protect the environment, wherein the government has passed a new rule in regard with the usage and manufacture of the plastic bags in the society. The Delhi government has passed a mandatory rule to ban plastic all over the city. If in case any public is found using plastic on behalf of ban, the government has declared imprisonment and also Rs. 1 lakh fine on the violators. The ban notification includes objections and suggestions. According to the ban notification not even the shopkeepers, vendors, wholesalers or the retailers are allowed to use plastic carry bags for supplying any goods.

The invitation cards and greeting cards will also be prohibited and also this notification is drawn from the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. One of the top officials reported over this notification saying that the Delhi High Court had ordered the government to impose a ban on the use of plastic bags in all market places, shopping malls and hotels in January 2009. However the officials are determined to enforce the ban on manufacture, sale, storage and usage of plastic bags all over the city in Delhi.
