Amenities for Devotees announced by Municipal Corporation of Delhi
With Chhath puja round the corner, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has started to clean the river banks of Yamuna river in Delhi. The festival is generally observed along the banks of river. Crowds throng along the banks of water bodies to offer prayers. Various kinds of wastes ranging from plastic bottles to bags lot of flowers, plastic plates or glasses cracker remains also piles up along the banks.
In Delhi some 30 lakh devotees gather around the banks. To ensure that there is no that the devotees do not face any difficulties the Corporation officials cleanliness drive to remove the waste from these area. The officials of Delhi government has said that this year they provide tents, water supply, sanitation, ambulance facilities, mobile toilet vans and such other measures for the masses. This year the Delhi government has allotted 47 ghats including six new ones for the festival.
