Bangalore Metro to go live on October 20th 2011

The wait for Bangalore Metro is finally over for the residents in Bangalore. This October 20th the Metro will zoom its way across Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road to Byappanahalli. . Services will begin from Mahatma Gandhi Road Station towards Byappanahalli and vice-versa via ,Indiranagar ,Trinity Halasuru and Swami Vivekananda Road. On 20th there will be an inaugural function, starting at 10.30 am at Manekshaw Parade Ground which will be inaugurated by the Union minister for urban development Mr Kamal Nath . Other dignitaries who have confirmed their attendance are Chief Minister Of Karnataka Mr. DV Sadananda Gowda along with Union railways minister Dinesh Trivedi.

Former chief minister of Karnataka Dharam Singh, Union minister for corporate affairs M Veerappa Moily, Union minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa,, Union minister for labour and employment Mallikarjuna Kharge and ambassador of Japan Mr. Akitaka Saiki. Passengers can make their entry to the stations and purchasing of tickets at the stations will begin from 3pm onwards. There will be regular Metro train services from October 21st 6am onwards to 10 pm. However if the situation demands this deadline may be extended up to 11 pm. The frequency of trains will be 15 minutes between 6am and 8am, 10 minutes between 8am and 8pm, and 15 minutes between 8pm and 10pm. The trains will halt in the stations mentioned above for 30 seconds.
