BBMP Contractors work abandoned by Truck Strike in Bangalore
Its been a fortnight since Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has stopped construction of civic works in Bangalore. BBMP projects in the city have been badly affected with the strikes upheld by the truckers in the city. The sand lorry owners in the state stayed away from work, meanwhile BBMP continued its works with the sand left over and that was sufficient only for a week. RJ Srinivas the chairman of the Builders’ Association of India and president of the BBMP Contractor’s Association reported saying that they have been receiving constant complaints from the construction workers due to non-availability of sand. He also added on sating that a huge amount of work like; road widening, drain works and also building construction works have been baring the burnt in majority.
A builder with the BBMP, Govardhan Reddy reported saying that he had to stop off laying culverts on the side of footpath at BTM Layout, as they ran shortage of sand to complete the work. He also added on saying that he has called off work since ten days the residents finding tough time to manage through the delayed construction works. All these delayed workings are sure to dash in huge financial loses for BBMP. However, BBMP commissioner Siddaiah reported in complete different way saying that he has not received any complaints till date neither from the BBMP workers or from the engineers and he perceives that its just an acute shortage of sand. Meanwhile the people who are working on the sites know the pains of work getting delayed since fortnight.
