BMC Mumbai assured all Potholes will be filled before August 15
The BMC (Mumbai corporation) has given assurance that potholes and bad patches will be filled up by August 15. Our officials will carry out road repairs before the start of Ganesh Chaturthi. Since it has been raining continuously, we could not do it so far, but now there is a dry patch,” additional municipal commissioner Aseem Gupta said.
Since the onset of the monsoon, the civic administration has been facing flak for potholes. Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti, the umbrella organisation of approximately 12,000 Ganesh mandals in the city, has threatened to approach the Bombay high court if the potholes are not filled.
Mayor Shraddha Jadhav had called a meeting of Samiti representatives, municipal commissioner Subodh Kumar and additional police commissioner Naval Bajaj, ahead of the festival.
Even as lakhs of Mumbaikars are looking forward to Ganesh Chaturthi festival which begins from September 1, the pockmarked roads may not provide a smooth ride to the elephant-headed God.
